Legrope newsletterAprilGiday Friends, Bit of news from the Chapman Camp. He has Risen! Happy Easter! We have just come back from the Australian Gospel Music Festival during Easter in Toowoomba. I performed 3 times in 2 days! One for a men's breakfast on Sat morn, then twice at the festival with the LEG ROPE band, Gig guide on my new website. I had a bit of a fever during the Sat arvo band performance... didn’t help with the hot stage lights. Battled through that set! Sun morn we let rip. We had a great time. Thanks to our rent-a-crowd friends from Gympie, Suny Coast and Toowoomba for supporting us. Also to the Leg Rope Band - Rob Kani on bass, Michael Nettlefold on drums, Phil & Karren Butterworth on lead guitar and backing vocals, and Sharny Chapman on BV’s, Josiah, Asher, Andre, and Charlot - dancers! NEPALAlso attached is an ad for the first Nepal Concert fundraiser. I will be going with a bunch of "Musicianaries" to Nepal in May. Check out the front page story on Ian Farrington and Cornerstone Missions Wed, 16 April Sunshine Coast Daily. As well as playing for the celebrations of the Golden Jubilee of the First Ascent of Mt Everest, team members will be involved in reconstructing the roof and drainage of one of the three orphanages supported by Cornerstone Missions, performing in hotels, towns, schools, delivering medical aid and medicines to the poor, and ministry in local churches.etc. Each team member is going to minister indirectly to the people of Nepal. This country is the only official Hindu country in the world. You can be jailed for a week for preaching the gospel publicly! Ian and the team will be continuing to build friendship bridges through music and good works thus making way to share the gospel in a practical way to this poor and needy nation. Each member will be paying his or her own way to Nepal. The due date for group airline tickets was today! Time is short! Needless to say, many of us, including me, have not been able to raise the $2,100.00 + $50.00 Departure tax (I wonder if they charge you that when Jesus comes back!), each needed just to get there. We are fortunate that Ian has arranged that the muso's sing for their supper and accommodation in the hotels. We need your help please!! 1.In prayer that the needs of the 28 Australian team members is met, 2. In advertising and attendance at the first and subsequent Nepal fundraising concerts. 3. Gifts of equipment or money to help us fulfil what God has called us to do in Nepal. Personally, as well as most of the airfare, I also need a Quality Travel case for my acoustic Guitar. Borrowed, 2nd hand or New! Or a donated guitar that I can give away to needy Nepalese Musos. Please come and support us at the upcoming concerts and hear more fully the vision for Nepal. If you can help in any way in, sponsorship, donations, advertising etc. please contact Ian Farrington 07 5449 0319. Or Andy Chapman 07 5482 9320 0428 829320COMPASSIONWe have had the privilege of promoting Compassion Australia child sponsorship program as advocates for the past year and a half. During that time we have helped needy third world children get sponsored through our concerts and personal contact. During January we had four children sponsored in one month! Two at the Teen Mission Boot camp Mission Day, where I sang and shared Compassion with stacks of young people, who had just finished a gruelling training and summer mission at Noosa and overseas. Friends of ours sponsored two children as we shared the physical and spiritual difference child sponsorship can make. Do yourself a favour and help a needy child out who can’t help themselves. "You, show some compassion. There’s people in pain out there. You!
" Thanks and God Bless. Come and say giday at the gigs! |
