Nepal fundraising for May 2003

Help send Andy Chapman and friends to Nepal from May 19 to June 9 with Cornerstone Missions.
From warm, sunny beaches to snow capped mountains.....

In May the 'Musicionaries' head to Nepal for the Golden jubilee celebrations of the first ascent of Mt. Everest. Artists include Andy Chapman & LegRope Band, Steve Apirana, The Agents, InaHarmony, Phil Butterworth, Koda Jo.

As well as building musical bridges of friendship, some of the team will be building a new roof for one of the three orphanages sponsored by Cornerstone.

NEPAL.

Thanks to the generous gifts and support of the Gympie and Cooran Christian Outreach Centres during our fund raising concerts we got to Nepal!

It was an awesome Musicianary trip to Nepal as part of Cornerstone ministries (Noosa), to play at the International Music Festival in the national football stadium and hotels and functions around Kathmandu in celebration of the Mt Everest Golden Jubilee. The Cornerstone team, led by Ian Farrington, were sensational! It was a great privilege to play for the Crown Prince of Nepal at the Soultee Crowne Plaza Hotel with the LegRope band (Phil Butterworth, Rob Kani, and Ian), then later in the trip to play for the Kings daughter at the Shangrila Hotel. Steve Apirana was a great hit with the crowds too with his wide selection of songs and humour.

Highlights for me were more than playing to and meeting Royalty though. Meeting and interacting with the locals was great. Nepalese people are so friendly and humble. I met possibly Nepal’s only didgeridoo player, Kinika Salil. We became great mates and played together often, even at the National Football stadium with the band. I had precious opportunities to share the gospel with him and give him a little book of Mark to read about Jesus and a copy of my album to listen to. He even let us pray for him. It has been hard to get in touch with him now that I have come home. The orphanages were just heart-warming places to visit. The children were so happy, well fed and loved. They really need our prayers and help to keep going and increase the work there. Some of the fellas were able to do some much-needed renovations to the building, which was a great blessing.

Please contact Janita or Lyn if you can help out in this great ministry - 07 5449 0577.

We had great opportunities to minister in churches as well. I remember doing 3hrs of Sunday school in one church while Ps Alan Beardall (from Noosa) ministered on and on next door with the adults! On the way to leading a guitar workshop…Speeding through the wild streets of Kathmandu traffic on the back of a motorbike with a guitar under my arm was adventurous and prayer inducing! We had a ball, made some great friends, Nepalese, international, and Aussies.

It is more blessed to give than receive.
